The most recent feather in his producer’s cap is the 2001 Awit Awards for Best Rap Recording, for the song “Luv 4 Lyf”, co-written, co-performed, and co-produced with Francis M and released under the Musiko Label of BMG Records, Pilipinas.. . . After recently shifting his focus to Classical Guitar and Music, Perf placed 3rd in the 1999 National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA). He is also an active member of the Philippine Music Ensemble and the PWU Guitar Quartet, with whom he has performed at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Concert at the Park, playing not only guitar, but a whole host of ethnic instruments as well.

Aside from being a monster in the local contemporary guitar world, Perf is also one of the few guitarists using the 10-string guitar; an instrument conceived and developed by Spanish master luthier Jose Ramirez III and Maestro Narciso Yepes. Perf is earning his Bachelor of Music degree at the Philippine Women’s University System College of Music, under the tutelage of Maestro Jose Valdez, studying Classical and Flamenco Guitar and under Dr. Francisco F. Feliciano, studying Composition and Orchestration.

. . . Perf’s studio savvy is evident in the numerous recordings and productions churned from his personal studio, Perfect Music Studio, from band demos to independent albums to major label releases. His impeccable sound engineering and production skills are most represented by the multi-platinum selling albums “Semenelin” (Wolfgang) and “Marc Velasco” (Marc Velasco), as well as Triaxis’ “Further Down the Bend and “Who We Are”, all released by Epic Records/ Sony Music Philippines. He has received nominations in the local award-giving bodies for his production work, most notably the Producer of the Year Award in the 1998 NU 107 Rock Awards.

I started when I was 13, after seeing Teddy Diaz (The Dawn) perform at Ultrastorm II. I started out on classical, then shifted to electric after a few months.
